The Royal Trophy

Despite a spirited fightback of the asian team,
Europe sealed victory in the inaugural Royal Trophy on Sunday after holding off Asia 9-7 at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Royal Trophy brings together teams from the european and the japanese and asian tour. Eight man teams play a series of 16 matches involving foursomes, four-ball and singles for a trophy donated by the King of Thailand. Ryder Cup legend Seve Ballesteros captained the european team, whilst Japan's Masahiro Kuramoto captained Asia.

The asian team already trailed by 6-2 following Saturday's foursomes and fourballs. The sunday singles brought the decision and showed an interesting fight back of the asian team, only losing narrowly in the end by 9-7. Here are Sunday's results:
