Last weeks tournament action on the European Tour saw a new face winning a tournament: Sweden's Johan Edfors claimed his first European Tour title with victory in the TCL Classic in China as England's David Howell imploded on a windy final day. Edfors had just regained his tour card via the Q School last november, his previous best performance on the European Tour was a tie for ninth at the Madrid Open in 2004, now he has a two-year exemption.
I haven't seen any coverage of the Bay Hill Invitational, but it wasn't the most thrilling golf that had been played there (see also mulligans comments
over at The Golf Blog
). Maybe the words of winner Rod Pampling desdribe it best:
It's sad to see but it's golf
World number one Tiger Woods, a distant 10 strokes off the lead overnight, completed a frustrating week with a level-par 72 and a share of 20th. Woods has won a record four titles at Bay Hill and triumphed in three of his five starts this year before this tournament.
